Our Story begins with a man and his dream. A dream of taking everything he has learned throughout his 30+ years in the construction industry and using it to build a company that would last for generations to come.

Meet our father, Antonino Hernandez, founder of Hernandez Concrete. He started his company in 2008 when the housing and construction industries in Texas were struggling. Rather than become a victim of the bad economy, our father made a bold decision to start his own company.

By doing things the right way and creating high-quality projects, his reputation began to grow and demand for his company grew as well. Emmanuel and I worked alongside our father greeting his customers, helping with translating, and working on his many jobsites. Our dad taught us some of the most important lessons a business owner could need – to be honest, to work hard, to never give up, and to always be learning something new.

Dad always valued God, his family, his coworkers, and his work. As a leader for his team he always showed up on time, communicated well with his team, kept things clean and in order, and in the end, built projects that he was proud to stand behind and met his customers’ every expectation.

For 12 years, Dad was the proud CEO of Hernandez Concrete. Then, during the pandemic of 2020, he contracted COVID and struggled to recover. He tragically and unexpectedly passed away later that same year.

Our father’s passing was devastating, but after taking time to reflect on his accomplishments and dreams, my brother, Emmanuel & I decided to keep our dad’s dream alive. Even though we were not prepared, we agreed we would step up and take on the role of a business owner.

We studied the foundation our dad left and studied ways to improve on it. We believed in the core values of the company and we were determined to keep Antonino’s legacy alive. Very quickly we understood that the only way we could tell good work from bad work was by working it and building it ourselves.

As an army of two, we physically worked on all of our projects. From meeting customers, to digging, leveling, forming, setting rebar, pouring, and finishing. We learned our company from the inside out, or as some would say, from the ground up. We dedicated ourselves to delivering a quality product that would exceed our customers’ expectations and we could be proud of.

Fast forward a few years, Hernandez Concrete is growing, adapting, and delivering new solutions and new finishes for our customers. We take pride in executing great service to contractors as well as working directly with home owners who are looking to enhance their property.

Hernandez Concrete recently achieved a milestone of over 15 years of dedicated service to our customers. Our father’s legacy lives on and we feel like we just now hitting our stride as we continue to build our team and grow our presence in the marketplace.
